Gaarsii moves parcels between people. Doing that needs to know where a parcel is going and who is carrying it, and nothing beyond that.
From customers and merchants: your name, the phone number or email you sign in with, the pickup and delivery locations you give us, and the orders you place.
From couriers: the same account details, the documents required to vet you to carry goods, and your location while you are on an active delivery.
A delivery location may be given as a pin on a map or as a three-word address. Either way it becomes a coordinate, because that is what a driver can navigate to.
Customers and merchants: we record the pickup and delivery points of your orders. We do not track your device.
Couriers: we record your location while you have accepted a delivery and are carrying it, including when the app is in the background, because a customer waiting for a parcel is entitled to know where it is.
Couriers, off duty: we do not record your location. Tracking stops when the delivery ends.
Reading your location on this website is different again: it happens in your browser, is shown only to you, and is not sent to us unless you choose to send it.
Only the services needed to make a delivery happen: a payment provider to take payment and pay couriers, a messaging provider to send the codes and updates you receive, an addressing provider to turn a three-word address into a coordinate, and a mapping provider to work out routes. Each receives only what its job requires.
We also disclose information where the law of the market you are in requires it.
Order records, including their locations, are kept while the order is live and then for as long as a dispute over it can be raised or the law requires. Courier location traces are kept for a shorter period than the orders themselves, because their purpose ends when the delivery does. Account records are kept while your account exists.
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Deleting an account does not delete records we are required to keep, such as completed financial transactions, and we will say which those are.
You can refuse location permission. A courier who refuses it cannot be assigned deliveries, because a delivery cannot be tracked without it. A customer who refuses it can still order by entering an address.
Some messages cannot be switched off. If your payout destination changes, you will be told, whatever your notification settings say, because that message exists to protect your money.
